Living outside of the city, and in a very new home, with no plumbing, no electric, and no appliances is changing many things about our lifestyle. Our plan is to have a propane-powered refridgerator and stove, but while we save up for those two major additions, we are living without. Cooking is not so big a problem, it's easy enough to cook over a fire, or on our single-burner "camp stove" but refridgeration is problematic - especially in this heat wave. Our cooler can't hold out against the 100 degree days we've been having, and so we've given up trying to keep things cool and focus instead on making meals that don't need to be kept cool.

It will be exciting to be able to store cheese and milk again, to be able to pack leftovers away for another day, but right now, our diet is very simple, and sort of thrilling in it's own way, and I'm happy to find myself hungry for Simplicity.
