Before setting up the yurt, we had to build a platform. The platform is raised slightly off the ground. My husband chose to build it on pine "stumps" instead of concrete and two-by-fours, which we both rejected as being horribly ugly. The stumps ended up looking adorable, very "rustic" and saved us about $300.
